Molly's foray into the biological sciences continued today. We had a heavy rain and this morning the slugs were out on the back patio. Molly had not seen a slug before... primarily because we don't get much rain in Sacramento. She was enthralled when I told her how they don't have bones and how they travel on a layer of slime. And she was blown away when they would suck their heads and antennae into their bodies to hide from her.

She also ran a few behavioral studies and thought it was really cool that when she put her finger in their path of travel they would sense her there and veer away from her. But she never touched them... until I went in the house. And when I looked out the sliding glass door to check on her, there she was carrying one around in her hand, talking to it, and petting it like a dog. Well, I guess it's good she's not scared.
