We decided to spend this Halloween with "the cousins" up in Lincoln. They have a fabulous neighborhood with a ton of young families that really get into it. The homes are all decked out for the holiday and it's a safe place to go trick-or-treating. And of course the kids LOVE spending time with their cousins! They had a fun pizza dinner before hitting the streets.
The kids all were ADORABLE in their outfits. Logan was a freaky scarecrow, Brody was a mummy and Hayden was a super hero. And our kids kept with their pirate theme.
This was an interesting year for trick-or-treating. For the first time ever, Molly was more interested in hanging with the other kids and getting as much candy as she possibly could get. Even after the twins wore out, she went back out to trick-or-treat with her older cousins. Paige on the other hand, gets the bravery award and seemed fairly unfazed by the house with the scary decorations.
Garrett was all about being thorough. I felt sorry for those people that let him CHOOSE from the treat bowl, because he would proceed to dig through the entire thing to make sure he got exactly the treat that was perfect for him. Three separate people commented on it... two saying that he is going to be an engineer when he grows up and one saying that he's going to be an analyst. He definitely gets that trait from his father.
All in all, it was a fabulous evening. The next day I bought the candy from the kids (minus a few things they could keep) for $10 a head and Steve took it to work to be properly disposed of. Then we went to the toy store so they could spend their earnings. That way they got something for all their hard work... and I got the candy out of the house (more for MY sake than theirs). Happy Halloween!
