Road Trip 2011: Part 4

On our fourth day in British Columbia, we met the Nanaimo extended family for a picnic dinner at Transfer Beach. When I was a kid, we used to have a family picnic at this same beach every year, and it was so cool to be there doing it again with MY kids! Here's a picture of my daughter, my sister's daughter Maya, and my cousin's daughter Emily! How cool is that?


It was also a special time for Maya and Alex, because they got to hang out with their grandmas on BOTH sides... or should I say their Nana and their Nani!


As you can tell, Garrett and Paige were just a "little" excited to spend some more time at the beach. Here they are in a flat out run heading to the water. If we hadn't stopped them they probably would have jumped in with their clothes on.


Molly enjoyed jumping over the waves with Maya. Garrett spent a lot of time throwing random rocks and wood in the water. And Paige was more than happy digging in the gravel.


And no picnic outing is complete without good grub. It was just like the old days... fried chicken, homemade salads, veggie platters and cake! It's funny how food has memories associated with it!


But once again the highlight for me was catching up with family that I get to see so very infrequently. It was especially wonderful to see my Grandma. You can tell from the photo below that she's who I get my good looks from!
