Enjoying the last of the snow...

Before the snow in the mountains all melted away, we thought we'd try to fit one more trip up to Donner's Pass for a hike and sledding adventure. Steve and I both have a desire to be an active family that gets out and enjoys the outdoors. We even talked about trying to get out camping this summer with the kids; however, after chasing Paige and Garrett around this last hike to prevent them from eating dirt, rocks, sticks, etc... we may need to wait another year before we start camping.

We started our hike by heading to Donner Lake to enjoy our picnic lunch. It was interesting because the snow went right up to the edge of the lake, yet there was areas of bare sand exposed. So the kids got to play in the snow AND on the sandy beach!

After our picnic, we hiked into the trees a little further to find a decent snowy hill for sledding. Paige wasn't really into it this time, but Garrett and Molly had a blast. Here's a little video of the kids sliding down the hill...
