Quick Update
I've had a few people ask what's been going on with my pituitary tumor, so I thought I'd give a quick update. The latest round of blood work showed that my growth hormone levels were hovering just above normal, which is better than it's been in the past (they were really high before). If the tumor is co-secreting growth hormone than it will need to be surgically removed because it will not shrink with the medication. My endocrinologist gave me the choice as to whether I wanted to just go straight to surgery, or wait and see if it shrinks with the medication. I chose to wait. So I will be repeating the hormone level testing this month and then he will schedule a repeat of the MRI in a couple of months. At that point I'll have been on the tumor medication for about 6 months and hopefully they will have found that the tumor has shrunk and surgery will not be necessary. That's my prayer! If the tumor is shrinking then he said I will probably be on the medication for about 2 years total. I only take my pill once a week but it makes me really dizzy with crazy headaches the day after. But I think I'd rather deal with a "medication hangover" one day a week than have them digging around in my head. Let's just hope we can avoid surgery!
