Christmas Day

Christmas Eve was not pretty for me, as I spent the ENTIRE night throwing up.  Yay for the stomach flu.  Thankfully Steve was feeling up to the task of readying the kids for Christmas morning, including putting out the reindeer food and treats for Santa.  He even helped Garrett leave a note of apology to Santa, because in his excitement Garrett ate all of the carrots that were left out for the reindeer.

Molly has been known to be a "little" excited about Christmas morning and this year we gave her explicit instructions that she was not allowed to get out of her room before 6:30 a.m.  So, when she showed up by our bedside at 5:50 a.m. she was sent straight back to bed, just to return at 6:29 a.m.  Needless to say she was REALLY excited to see that Santa did indeed show up.  She had to wait almost a whole 45 minutes before Garrett and Paige woke up!  They are allowed to open their stockings and Santa gifts before breakfast, so they were very excited to find out that Santa gave them all scooters this year.  Needless to say they did laps around the house on them all day!

Then I made breakfast for everyone... cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs and sausage.  The irony of that is that I still could only really stomach a little bowl of cereal, so all that yumminess was wasted on me.  After breakfast we finished opening the onslaught of gifts.  It was such a joy to watch the kids enjoy each and every gift that they opened.

And of course, we had to finish of the gift opening with a jump in the pile of wrapping paper!

Even Mommy and Daddy got spoiled!  Steve got a keyboard to go with his tablet, and a new drill set.  And I got a smart phone and a GORGEOUS teal leather camera bag that I love!

So despite the stomach flu, it was a wonderful and relaxing day spent enjoying our gifts and spending time together as a family.  Unfortunately Steve did indeed get the flu as well the day after Christmas, but even he will agree the quiet time was priceless.

Christmas Eve

This year we spent Christmas Eve with the Hare and Faddis clans.  Unfortunately, the last day of school before Christmas break, Molly brought home the gift of the stomach flu and on Christmas Eve it hit Mommy (me).  I probably should have just stayed home, but instead I curled up in the corner with a blanket and tried not to breathe on anyone.  I couldn't even stomach Aunt Nancy's famous prime rib dinner, which was a sad state of affairs.  Thankfully, Steve grabbed my camera and took some photos of the evening and the cousins exchanging gifts.

The kids exchanged books with their cousins, which is always fun.  And Aunt Nancy made our kids each their own fleece blanket, which was definitely a hit and they now refuse to sleep without them.

First Annual Christmas Party

Today, our family got together with some friends from our SMOM club and had a Christmas party.  It was such a fun time, that we have collectively decided it is the "first annual" party, because everyone had so much fun.  I forgot my camera, but thankfully some of the other mommies were more prepared.  Our hosts (the Lin-Delcollo's) deep fried a turkey and then we all added something to the potluck.  I brought a ham and a stuffing casserole.  Needless to say there was a TON of food.   Here's many of the "moms" getting the food prepped.  Thankfully Susan has such a HUGE kitchen!

The kids had a blast with all their little friends.  I think there was a total of fifteen kids there, which I suppose is not surprising considering we all have twins or triplets.  Here's Garrett hanging out with the Gilmore boys, and Molly and Paige eating with the Taylor girls.

The mommies and daddies got some time to relax and visit while the kids self-entertained.  We all were BLOWN away by how nicely the kids played with each other.

The kids also got involved in a full out laser tag WAR with Susan's sister and her fiance.  Here's some of the girls hiding under the kitchen table.

It was such a fabulous evening and one of my favorite memories of the holidays.  Amazing people, amazing food and an amazing time!

Christmas Lights...

Tonight we decided to make our annual Christmas light trek.  The weather was threatening to rain, but we figured we'd take out chances walking around Dovewood Court, which is locally known for their over-the-top light displays.  Luckily, we caught a break in the weather that was just long enough to stroll around the court.

Just as we finished up at Dovewood Court, the rain started falling.  So we hopped back in the car and drove to the "Fab 40's" area to check out some more lights from the van.  Luckily, Daddy was prepared with some yummy hot chocolate for the kids to enjoy as we drove around.  It was such a fun and festive evening!

Molly's Gymnastics Performance

Not to be outdone by Paige's dance recital, Molly's gymnastics class also put on a show for the holidays.  They had practiced several routines to show the parents.  Molly performed on the horizontal bar, balance beam, trampoline, vault and finished it all off on the floor!  I was so impressed with how far she has come in the last four months and she is getting stronger and stronger with every class!

When all the performances were complete, the kids got a visit from Rudolph the Reindeer.  Paige was a little intimidated by the giant deer, and decided to opt out of the photo.

Gymnastics has been so great for Molly, and it's been so fun watching her gain strength and confidence on the different equipment.  Great job, Molly!

The Littlest Nutcracker

Paige's dance class got to perform in the Littlest Nutcracker this Christmas as a Snowflake Fairy.  She was very excited about her special performance, as were we all.  Even Aunt Nancy and Uncle Fred joined us for the special evening.

Her classes costume was adorable, complete with white tutu, fairy wings and a crown.  As you can tell she was just a LITTLE excited to get all dressed up!

And here she is with her teacher, Miss Alyssa.  Paige adores her and she is so good with those little kids!

Paige was going to be the first one out, leading her entire class onto stage.  I was a little worried about how that would go.  But when she came out she was all smiles and practically prancing across the stage.  Aren't they the cutest little fairies ever?

We felt that Garrett and Molly would be old enough to come and sit through the entire performance, and they did a great job.  Molly really touched our hearts because her pure joy and excitement for her little sister.  I think she was as excited to watch Paige, as Paige was to perform.  In fact, before the show Molly dug her last five dollars out of her piggy bank to buy Paige some flowers.  That five dollars she had been saving to get herself a new toy, but she decided to buy Paige some roses instead.  It completely touched our heart.

Good job Paige!  We're so proud of you!  And we're so proud of you, Molly, for being such a kind and supportive sister!

SMOM Christmas Party

Today was the SMOM Holiday Party.  The ladies who organized this did an amazing job, and provided ham and macaroni & cheese for at least 45 families (the rest being potluck).  It was amazing.  The also had a sugar cookie decorating station and a Christmas craft station, which the kids enjoyed!

One of the mommies had her father dress up as Santa Claus and distribute gifts to all the kids.  This is the first year that my kiddos all WANTED to sit on Santa's lap.  It was interesting to watch all the families with younger kids have their children scream on Santa's lap and realize that this was our family not long ago!

The gifts from Santa were pre-purchased and wrapped by us... the parents.  So needless to say, Garrett was very happy to receive his new Super Friends DVD!

No more monkeys jumping on the bed...

When I got the kids' their sock monkey Christmas jammies this year from Gymboree, I immediately got an idea for a photo shoot in my head.  Because as the song goes... no more monkeys jumping on the bed!  And I just happened to have a stuffed sock monkey that matched their jammies!  So I set up some strobes in my bedroom, tidied up around the bed and let them go for it!  Here's the result...

The kids had SO MUCH fun jumping on the bed and I must say it was probably the easiest shoot I've ever done with them!  LOL!  Anyway, I posted the top photo on Gymboree's facebook page because I figured they'd love to see the result.  Within a day, I was contacted by the company that publishes the Gymboree blog to ask permission to use the photo on their site!  Um... YES!  Here's the link to the picture on their blog... click HERE!  Anyway, I'm in contact with them to do some more styled Gymboree sponsored shoots in the New Year which I am SO EXCITED about!  Hopefully it pans out!
