On the move...

Well, I knew this day would come... the babies are starting to move. On the same day Paige figured out how to roll over both ways to get something she wants, and Garrett started scooting backwards to move around the place. So, I guess this weekend some "re-babyproofing" is in order. Here's a video of Garrett moving around. He is slow and methodical so I sped the video up to double-time and then had to put it to music when my voice on the video sped up too.

Yah... the boy doesn't roll over, but look at him go. He's going to be crawling before we know it. Funny how when it's your first child you can't wait for those milestones. And when it's your second (and third) child you'd be happy if they just stayed in one place. But I do love this age. Garrett and Paige are so inquisitive and you can see their little brains just absorbing everything up. Here's another cute video of them together. They LOVE it when I sing.

Molly's 3-year photos

Well, I finally got around to doing some 3-year portraits of Molly. I suppose a little late is better than never! Over the past year she has become quite the little poser for the camera and I love the fact that I don't have to chase her down anymore. I'm loving age three so far, and although she's becoming a little sassy, I can't help but laugh at some of her comments. Like today when I snagged one of her grapes she said in a disgusted voice, "Mommy! You ate my grapes! Go sit in time out!". Or today when I said aloud that I wished the lady in front of me in the parking lot would get out of my way she shouted, "Shoo lady! Shoo lady!". I love this kid!

Hanging with the cousins...

Steve's sister's family were here the last few days and we had a really fun time. Imagine four adults, two 3-year olds and three babies in a 1750 square foot house. It was mild chaos, but definitely worth it! We even found time to do some family portraits for them (see here). Molly was in heaven having all her "peeps" around. We did get up to Roseville to visit the other cousins and enjoy the pool at Aunt Nancy and Uncle Fred's house. Here's Luke gearing up for some surfing.

Seeing the Faddis boys is always a treat, and for some reason it always ends up turning into "wrestle mania". It must be a boy thing, although we noticed that Hailey and Molly were more than happy to join the fray. And Cousin Debbie is pregnant with boy #4 so Garrett and Luke will soon have someone their size to wrestle with.

While Scott and Christie were here in town, we thought it would be really nice to try and get a good photo of all the kids together... for us and for the grandparents! This proved to be quite an exhausting task. Taking a picture of five kids, two of which are three and the others at 5 and 6 months, was not easy. But here's as good as we could get. I present to you... "The Cousins"!

Seperated at birth...

We are currently enjoying a visit from Steve's sister's family. Their daughter Hailey is three days older than Molly and they have SO much fun together when they see one another. And this morning, they decided on their own that they should wear their matching dresses from Grandma. All day they have been chasing each other around, and Molly has even started sucking her thumb so she can be like Hailey. It brings us so much joy to see how much they love one another.

Chunky Monkeys...

Paige and Garrett had their 6 month appointment yesterday. They're both doing great! The doctor is following up with a developmental specialist because Garrett still isn't rolling over, but she's not worried about it and is chalking it up to his "girth" and fast growth rate. He can almost army crawl so he's not lacking strength! Anyway, Paige weighed in at 20 lbs 13 oz (99%) and 26 inches (53%) and Garrett was 22 lbs 8 oz (98%) and 28.5 inches (96%). Both happy and healthy! Yay!

A visit to SoCal...

Last week, our family made an unanticipated visit to Southern California. We received a call that Steve's mom had been admitted to the E.R. with severe gastrointestinal pain. After a day of testing, she was diagnosed with colon cancer and quickly taken into surgery to remove two masses. We felt it would be wise to go down and help as much as we could. Within a week of her surgery she was doing really well and gearing up for chemotherapy. We ask for everyone to please keep her and her family in prayer as she faces treatment. Love you Shirley!

Although the primary purpose of the trip was to help them around the house and to fill their freezer with meals, we were happy to have an excuse to bring the twins to Southern California to meet two grandpas and a grandma they had yet to meet! Here's Steve's step-dad getting some "baby snuggles".

And of course Daddy enjoyed a little extra time with the kids and got a few extra snuggles of his own.

One of the highlights for Molly was meeting Groucho, a neighborhood cat that adopted Steve's mom and step-dad. He was such a friendly kitty and I think it's the first cat that has let her love all over it. Molly declared on the drive back home that Groucho should be called Frenchie instead. Anyone who has read the "Fancy Nancy" books will appreciate that.

Half a year old...

This Sunday Garrett and Paige turned 6 months old. I can't believe half a year has already gone by. They are such sweet babies and I'm enjoying them so much. They've flip flopped and Paige is now the easy baby as Garrett is dealing with some terrible teething (poor guy). He's become quite the drool monster going through multiple bibs each day. I think six months is my favorite age. They sit up, smile, babble - but can't move and get into things. Love it! Anyway, here's sweet Paige:

And here's handsome Garrett:

And here's Molly at 6 months old:

He's all boy...

There's one thing becoming abundantly clear about Garrett... he's all boy. He does so many things differently than my girls. When he plays with a toy, it's almost like he's trying to kill it. When he wants something, he lunges for it and will fearlessly leap out of your arms to get it. And in the bath he splashes around with total abandon. I think I may have my hands full with this energetic kid as he gets older. Perhaps he just has a personality that has "gusto". But he's definitely all boy, as seen in the video below.

And here's a little picture for our family in Portland who are desperately missing In-n-Out Burger. Garrett has only ever eaten rice cereal and oatmeal, but we couldn't resist letting him gum a french fry the other day. He approved.

It's an addiction...

My name is Amy and I'm addicted to dressing my children in coordinating outfits. I don't do it every day. But I get really excited when stores sell coordinating cloths in toddler AND baby sizes. If they have a boy outfit that coordinates too... then I pretty much lose it! And Molly really likes wearing the same thing as Paige, so we're all happy! Maybe there's a support group out there for people like me. Any of you other moms out there want to join my support group? Come on ladies... admitting it is the first step to recovery!
